You might already have red diesel on site
For maximum cost savings John Deere diesel tractors are best run on red diesel. This is sometimes known as farm diesel or gas oil and is taxed significantly less than the white diesel obtained from normal fuel stations, costing only about half as much as white diesel.
The better fuel efficiency of the Yanmar diesel engine means that you will use on average about 1/2 the quantity(volume) of fuel that an equivalent horsepower petrol engine will use. Combined with the purchase cost saving, overall savings can be as much as 4-times!
What is the difference between kerosene (heating oil) and gas oil (red diesel) ?
Kerosene (heating oil), also known as 28 second oil, is produced after the distillation process of crude oil. Most domestic heating systems run on kerosene because it provides a cleaner and more efficient burn for your home.
Gas oil (red diesel), also known as 35 second oil, is more commonly used in agriculture and industry. Gas oil is less combustible than kerosene and has more carbon atoms. Older domestic heating systems might use this.
If you are unsure which oil you use, check with your oil supplier. You may already have cheaper fuel on site!
